Short Course Offerings for 2010
Legacy BioDesign is honored to be part of these excellent short course offerings. We hope you will plan to attend on of them. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or comments.
August 23-25, 2010 Formulation and Stabilization of Proteins and Peptides
Loveland, CO USA
For the fourth year in a row, Dr. Manning will be presenting his three-day short course on stability and formulation of peptides and proteins in Colorado. This course offers a comprehensive overview of the topic, using hundreds of slides to cover all aspects of protein formulation development. The cost of the 3-day course is $1800 and includes course materials, lunches, and breaks.
Please contact us (via email manning@legacybiodesign.com) to get a registration form.

Protein & Peptide Formulation & Stabilization Course 2010 Outline
October 4-7, 2010 Formulation and Stabilisation of Proteins and Peptides
London, UK
For the first time, Dr. Manning will be presenting two 2-day short courses this fall for the European Continuing Education College (ECEC). While he has taught every year for ECEC since 2004, this time the topic of protein stabilization and formulation will be divided into two parts. The first course will be a 2-day introduction to the topic of protein formulation. It is intended for those new to the field and would like an overview to how formulation development should be conducted for biopharmaceuticals. The second course will cover advanced topics in protein formulation and the latest advances emphasize mechanistic aspects. This course will move at a faster pace and is intended for those already working in the field, but who want to increase their understanding and exposure to the latest ideas and advances. You can elect to attend one or both of the courses. For more information about the location, topics and costs, please go to www.ecec.co.uk.

November 16-18, 2010 Stabilization of Proteins and Peptide along the Formulation Process Ness Ziona, ISRAEL
For the first time, we will offer a short course in Israel, as we will spend three days discussing various aspects of stabilization of peptide and proteins during formulation development and even covering protein stability issues associated with various unit operations in the manufacturing process. All of the information about the course can be found by going to the link below.

Awards
Award Nomination. The manuscript from our collaboration with scientists from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (“Ability of Two All Natural Products, Nootkatone and Carvacrol, to Suppress Ixodes scapularis and Amblyomma americanum (Acari: Ixodidae) in a Lyme Disease Endemic Area of New Jersey”, Marc C. Dolan, Robert A. Jordan, Terry L. Schulze, Christopher J. Schulze, Mark Cornell Manning, Daniel Ruffolo, Jason P. Schmidt, Joseph Piesman, and Joseph J. Karchesy, J. Econ. Entomol. 2009, 102: 2316-2324) was nominated for the CDC’s 2010 Charles C. Shepard award in the Prevention and Control category.
Events
Legacy BioDesign personnel will be attending the 2010 Lyophilization Conference in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany (www.lyo-garmisch.de) from September 29-October 1, 2010.
Dr. Brian Murphy will present a poster entitled “Stability of Lyophilized Sucrose Formulations of an IgG1: Infrared Spectroscopy as an Indicator of Stability and Subtle Structural Changes” (acceptance pending)
Dr. Robert Payne will present a poster entitled “Aggregation and Particle Formation for Lyophilized Formulations of an IgG1” (acceptance pending)
These two studies are the result of a collaboration with our colleagues at Althea Technologies (San Diego, CA)
